Dr. IRENE AMOS (1927 - 2012)

Dr. Irene Amos OAM was an accomplished, award-winning Australian Abstract Expressionist. Having trained at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, she won the Godfrey Rivers Memorial Medal for excellence in the applied arts. A member of the Royal Queensland Art Society and Jacaranda Art Society, Amos held numerous successful exhibitions nationwide, and alongside contemporaries Margo Lewers, John Firth-Smith & Elizabeth Cummings to name a few. Her works are represented in several important National collections, including the Queensland Art Gallery. She passed away tragically after a long battle with cancer.
