JULIAN ROSSI ASHTON CBE (1851 - 1942)

Julian Rossi Ashton CBE was an English-born Australian artist and teacher, known for his support of the Heidelberg School and for his influential art school in Sydney. He also had considerable success as a painter, exhibiting at the Royal Academy of Arts and elsewhere.He established the Julian Ashton Art School in 1890 and it became the most successful and influential art school in Australia, producing several famous alumni including: Elioth GrunerGeorge Lambert, B.
