Belle Epoque was established in May 2005, and has been specialising in Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau, Edwardian, Federation and Art Deco furniture from 1880 to 1930. The proprietor, Susan Capel, lovingly sources and restores the items using traditional techniques.
In January 2018, Belle Epoque shifted it's focus to primarily Australian & International Fine Art. Edwardian and Arts & Crafts furniture is still a specialty available at Belle Epoque and we continue to offer high quality pieces on a smaller scale to compliment our artworks.
Susan has a background in Fine Art & Antiques. She studied at Seaforth Technical College from 1975-1976, with an Art Certificate, majoring in sculpture & photography. She has been actively involved in collecting and restoring high quality Edwardian, Federation and Arts & Crafts Furniture since the late 1990s and established Belle Epoque Antiques at it's current location in May 2005.
We source our stock from auction houses, deceased estates and private individuals. In the past we have sourced Interstate & Internationally; we imported a container of classic Arts and Crafts furniture from Scotland, where the Arts and Crafts movement originated and have purchased some quality kauri pieces from New Zealand.
All of our pieces are owned by Belle Epoque and we rarely sell on commission. The pieces we sell are 100% authentic and original, and we do not stock reproductions. If you have any items that you wish to sell or to be valued, please email photographs and we will see if we can assist or offer advice.
This web page is updated regularly and all stock is available for sale. Some pieces may be on "hold" for customers but we welcome enquiries in case a sale does not proceed. Measurements are taken of all items from the furthest external points, and for artworks the image size not including the frame. We can provide internal measurements on request.
